Merry Cherry Farms
Merry Cherry Farms
Merry Cherry Farms is located in a fertile valley at Norton Summit just 25 minutes from Adelaide's CBD.
It is a family owned orchard run by two brothers Albert and Claude, which began in 1975.
As the name suggests, Merry Cherry Farms specialises in growing minimum-spray cherries and has approximately 3000 cherry trees of 22 different varieties. This ensures the season is prolonged as each variety ripens at different times.
Come and try our premium, fresh, hand-picked cherries. The main variety is the Stella – a firm, sweet and heart-shaped cherry. Other varieties include the heritage Napoleon – an old fashioned 'white' cherry, medium sweet and great for preserving in alcohol; the Sir Don (Sir Donald Bradman) – a very dark red, sweet cherry; and the Sir Toms (Thomas Playford) – a rich red cherry of medium sweetness.
Almost 9 hectares is planted to cherry trees and we keep our own bees on Merry Cherry Farms to ensure cross pollination. The farm is complimented by just under 1 hectare of natural bush land, home to many native flora and fauna.
Merry Cherry Farms also has around 1 dozen peach and plum trees, and 50 apple trees (golden delicious and pink lady).
Its pesticide- and chemical-free vegetables include green beans, zucchini, pumpkins and broccolini.
Merry Cherry Farms produce can also be found at the Victor Harbour Farmers Market, and Adelaide Showgrounds Farmers Markets.
We also bake a fantastic range of pizza bases, with and without sauce, and have some gluten free pizza bases as well. We also bake a selection of italian inspired breads and grissini.

Alex's Hand Made Soaps & Farmhouse Pantry
In respect of the endangered habitat of the Orang-utans, all our products are palm oil free.
We have been making handmade soaps for 4 years. It all started as a hobby for Alex and I (the mum) that turned into a business.
Handmade soaps are a totally different product to a commercial soap, they retain all the naturally occurring glycerine and give a really good moisturising lather. Many of our regular customers are people with sensitive skins.
Our soaps are made from a selection of oils chosen for the qualities they bring to the soap, they are coloured with clays, herbs and spices and we use fragrant and essential oils to cater for a wide range of people.
Our online shop www.handcraftedsoaps.com.au was developed in 2006 we also sell to shops and at some local markets. Selling at local markets gives us a good feel for what our customers like and we have developed our range in response to customers requests, among these are unscented goats milk, Lavender with colloidal oatmeal and a dog soap. We also have a solid Shampoo bar made from locally grown olive oil, beeswax, egg yolks and other goodies. We have the full range on our stall (no 22) at the Adelaide Hills Farmers Market.
We have a policy of minimal waste and recycle when ever possible, and with this in mind we will usually have a few specials on our stall. These are soaps that may be odd shaped, under weight or just older stock that we want to clear out, perfectly good soap, but out at a special price.
Our Farmhouse Pantry lines include a wonderfull selection of home made, ready to eat, take home meals and sauces.

Ashbourne Valley Orchards
Ashbourne Valley Orchards
The Boag family farm 30,000 fruit trees in Ashbourne, located between Meadows and Goolwa, on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Our company, Ashbourne Valley Orchards has 12 hectares under permanent net. The fruit is minimum-sprayed and integrated pest management used; an environmentally-sensitive approach compatible with frogs and worms which frequent the orchard.
Apple juice is squeezed on Friday, giving time for the liquid to clear before being packed and ready to drink on Saturday.
The fruit is seasonal; peaches arrive in December and run to late January, followed by cherries until March. Apples, pears and quinces start in February and are harvested until June.
Five of the heritage pear varieties are only grown commercially by Ashbourne Valley Orchards: the Charles Ernest, Belle, Durondeau, Comice (considered one of Europe’s finest table pears) and Beurre Hardy (juicy sweet and delicately perfumed). They also grow more commonly-known varieties.
Ashbourne Valley Orchards’ white-fleshed heritage peaches are all picked ripe, ready to be eaten within a few days after purchase. These fresh-picked peaches have an unsurpassed flavour and are not available in supermarkets.
Their fanstatic produce includes, when seasonally available seasonally-fresh apples, pears, quinces, cherries, peaches, plums and fresh apple juice
Ashbourne Valley Orchards also trade at the Adelaide Showgroud Farmers Market and Willunga Farmers Market

Bald Hills Olive Grove
Bald Hills Olive Grove
We have 2 styles of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, plain and chilli table olives, balsamic vinegar and dukka and za’ahtar. When the weather turns nippy we have bags of firewood too.
Bald Hills Olive Oil has a fresh grassy, flavour with a peppery finish and is made from Tuscan varieties of olive trees mostly from the Frantoio family.
Our second style, High Grove has a fruity, nutty flavour with a hint of pepper that comes from a mixture of Greek and Italian varieties. The fruit for this oil comes from groves on Bald Hills Road, Mt Barker and the Balhannah district.
The High Grove Kalamata table olives are firm and not too salty, although the chilli and herb table olives have a little fire. The Balsamic vinegar, fragrant dukka and zesty za’ahtar go well with the extra virgin olive oils and fresh bread.
Bald Hills Olive Grove sits on 33 acres of picturesque agricultural land to the north of Mt Barker on Bald Hills Road. Our family bought the land in 1986 on a whim; the acres of rolling hills were too enticing to pass up. It is great to be part of an emerging industry with lots of potential and friendly people. Olives and extra virgin olive oil are part of a healthy Mediterranean diet but Australia wasn’t supplying its own people. Unlike other mono- unsaturated oils, extra virgin olive oil doesn’t require solvents to extract it. It’s a buzz to know our oil is adding to our customer’s health while they enjoy the flavour.
The land now supports 680 Frantoio family (Corregiola, Paragon) and Pendolino olive trees. They were selected because they cope with the frosts in Northern Italy, and which we occasionally get in the beautiful Adelaide hills.
The trees were planted in 1998 with the help of friends and family. Our first harvest was of 23 berries in 2002. The volume has steadily increased since then, thankfully! Until 2009 the fruit has been harvested by hand, onto mats which we lay under the trees. In 2009 the majority were harvested with a shaker.
The High Grove Extra Virgin Olive Oil comes from the 3000 olive trees on the southern side of the valley combined with fruit from other hills growers and is widely distributed throughout the Hills and in Adelaide.
We also sell 3 kinds of hay in small squares and small and large round bales of Lucerne, Oaten / Lucerne and Pasture hay and bags of firewood. Delivery is available.
This family business is growing from a small plot that supplied friends to one that can offer good oil to our local and wider community.

Salad Greens and Kitchen Herbs
Salad Greens and Kitchen Herbs
Outgrowing our smaller farm in Longwood, the Zehle Family bought a 64 acre farm in Echunga. Here the land is flat and water supply is excellent to grow fancy lettuces, herbs and Bocchoy.
The range of lettuces include green and red oak, green butter and minuette, green and red baby cos, red and green coral.
The range of herbs is extensive and most varieties are grown all year round.
Available are coriander, basil, dill, chives, watercress, curly parsley, italian parsley, french parsley, mint, thyme, oregano, chard, rocket, mizuna, sage, snow pea leaves, to name a few. Judith grows them from seed in a hothouse. All herbs are grown without the use of pesticides.
Not long ago Sven started to plant the first bocchoy and is having so much success, that the number of seedlings has to be increased constantly.
The lettuces and bocchoy are pesticides free during 6-8month of the year. During winter they us minimal spray practises on our crop. This guaranties fresh local produce all year.
Produce is harvested and delivered directly 6 days a week to restaurants, greengrocers and some independent supermarkets. The passion for growing and bringing truly fresh produce to the consumer encouraged the family to have a stall at the farmer's market at the Adelaide Showground Farmers Market, and also Willinga Farmers Market.
Trials are on the way to grow more varieties of herbs, lettuces and other organic produce predominantly for Farmer's Markets.
